
A book on crime
Project concept: Create a book integrating self written true crime articles with a semi-autobiographical comic.
Goals: Successfully integrate illustration with the more serious topic of true crime, as demonstrated through several possible books spreads.
The first thing that I wanted to tackle was the style of illustration, and the main spread of the comic book. I sketched out my ideas by hand.


The finished versions ended up being black and white with red accents in order to indicate characters and important words, similar to Russian constructivism.


Then I needed to transition the illustrative style I was using into the more serious source text that I had written. The source article in it's entirety, which I wrote for the Quaker Campus, can be found here.

I decided to hand write the introductory text of the article to transition between the illustration and the text of the article, and then incorporated illustration throughout the other spreads.
